Families and businesses alike struggle with the rising cost of health care. Too many people have to worry that they'll lose their coverage or be unable to afford the care they need for themselves or their loved ones. I will work to address the rising cost of health insurance and prescription drugs and reduce the number of uninsured Americans.

Helping small businesses and farmers - Rising health insurance costs fall especially hard on small business owners and farmers. Tax incentives can help small businesses offer insurance to their employees, and I support allowing both small businesses and family farmers access to a nationwide health pool, which lowers premiums by spreading risk across more people.

Expanding coverage for children - I support successful programs like the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) which enrolls needy kids through the school lunch program and extends coverage for preventive care to low-income parents.

Reforming the Medicare prescription drug plan - I support changes to the new law to lower drug costs through price competition and the use of generic drugs.
