No one knows what the plan is for Iraq because George W. Bush hasn't told the American people.

Here's where I stand: the invasion of Iraq was a mistake.

Our troops have performed admirably under difficult circumstances, but their civilian leadership has failed them.

Three years after the initial invasion, the situation in Iraq is shaky at best, and "just trust us" is wearing thin as our policy in Iraq.

George W. Bush and his administration failed to develop and execute a plan to stabilize Iraq in the crucial months following the invasion, ignoring the advice of military leaders. They failed to ensure that our troops had adequate body armor that could have prevented many casualties. They also failed to prioritize the training of Iraqi military and police forces, jeopardizing the success of our mission in Iraq.

These failures are why I called for Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to resign. We need a new direction and a timeline for withdrawal of our troops from Iraq.
