Titus' Opponent A ‘No-Show' At Debate On Governor's Race

The debate between the two Democratic candidates for governor was an easy win for Sen. Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, Tuesday night -- her challenger didn't show up for the debate.

Titus, the leading Democratic candidate for governor, spoke to a packed crowd of nearly 100 Democratic supporters at the Painter's Union Hall in Henderson. The candidate face-off was the first-ever joint meeting of all of the Democratic clubs in Clark County, yet Titus' Democratic challenger was a no-show.

"It's kind of hard to tell (the difference between the candidates) when he won't show up for a debate," Titus said. "If he ever comes to debate me, I will be there."

Titus focused on a few themes that will show up in her campaign, such as improving economic development, providing more affordable housing and addressing the state's growing transportation problems.

Titus also underscored the need to continue her crusade to crack down on sexual offenders and methamphetamine labs in the state.

"I will not just sit behind a desk when I am elected governor," Titus said. "I'm going to get out and see people in every corner of the state. We will not ignore anyone."
