Common Sense Conservative Republican Candidate Jeff Crank, With His Wife Lisa And Children Joel And Jessica.

"We started at 5:45 this morning and drove to Leadville first," recounted electoral hopeful Jeff Crank. "We hit Buena Vista, Fairplay, Woodland Park and Colorado Springs before arriving in Canon City."

Crank's campaign trail on Monday was extensive, traveling with his wife Lisa and children Joel and Jessica throughout central Colorado. Gaining local support, he announced his intent to run as a conservative Republican in the caucus and eventually for Fifth Congressional District.

He began his speech thanking God, family and Country for the ability to run for office.

"Whatever glory this day may bring belongs to God," Crank prayed. He went on to praise Representative Joel Hefley (R-Colo). "Joel Hefley is our great Congressman, but he can't be replaced. Someone has to fill his seat, but no one can replace him."

He went on to speak about the corruption of U.S. Government and made remarks about his history of supporting the U.S. Military, co-authoring the Military Family Housing Building Initiative with Congressman Hefley.

"I was in Washington when a general recognized me. He looked over and asked, ‘Do you realize what that law has done,'" Crank paused, looking over his audience for affect. "'You have provided 110,000 military families with housing."

Next, Crank spoke about protecting the unborn and repealing the right to choose, supporting the need to replace what he called "judicial tyranny and liberal judges."

"We need to create a culture of life and respect for life," he began. "We need a culture where we love the unborn child and that woman who finds herself in that terrifying situation."

He also spoke out about same-sex marriage, saying that he wanted to change national laws requiring the wording, "Marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman."

Reform ethics, lobbying restrictions and earmarks were next on Crank's list of the proactive legislation he promised to bring to the House.

"We can either be a party of reform, or a party of the minority," Crank declared. "We have to fight Congress against money being spent in inappropriate ways and cut salaries if the budget is not made on time. I will never vote to raise your taxes, period."

Congress needs to tear the IRS out by the roots, he mentioned, saying that there is a need for either a flat tax or consumption tax to replace the current income tax.

"American families should not fear their government over an accounting error," he reasoned.

As a son of a World War II Navy Veteran, Crank also said he believes we need to support the War on Terror.

"Some have put politics ahead of country and have tried to exploit this war," he accused. We need to support the military by providing family housing, protect Fort Carson from closing and improve the lives of military families.

Illegal immigration was high on his list of reform and, he said, America needs to find the political will to protect our borders and end federal funding to "sanctuary cities" like Denver.

"Catch and release is a great policy for fisherman," he joked. "But not for immigration. This has to end. We cannot continue to reward illegal behavior in this country."

He finished his speech by asking for support in both the upcoming caucus and in the election.
