Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Votes to Protect Nation's Ports
Recognizing the need to carefully monitor the goods and cargo passing through our country's ports of entry, Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) today voted for the Security and Accountability for Every Port (SAFE) Act (H.R. 4954), which overwhelmingly passed in the House of Representatives. The bipartisan bill will strengthen security at our nation's major ports and help prevent terrorists from harming our country.
"The Port of Miami is one of our nation's largest ports and is the primary port to all of Latin America and the cruise industry," Diaz-Balart said. "We understand as much as anyone the critical need for enhanced port security, and we are always looking at ways to better inspect and protect our ports. Today's legislation gives a boost to our goal. It will strengthen security at all of our nation's ports and make it more difficult for terrorists to mount an attack."
