Ms. TLAIB. Mr. Speaker, this week marks 3 years of the war in Sudan, and our country has done little to nothing to actually stop it.
Tens of thousands of Sudanese have been killed, and 14 million are displaced in what has become the world's largest displacement crisis.
Mr. Speaker, the Rapid Support Forces, RSF, have engaged in a claim of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Darfur and armed with American weapons provided to them by the United Arab Emirates, and it is shameful. It is shameful that many of my colleagues continue to look away.
We need to move the Stand Up For Sudan Act, the Stand Up For Sudan Act which would cease all U.S. weapons sales to the UAE.
We must put pressure on all nations fueling this war and extend the international arms embargo on Darfur to all of Sudan.
While the Sudanese people face famine, the Trump administration has slashed humanitarian aid that saves lives, and this must be reversed immediately.
We need an immediate cease-fire; but beyond that, we need to support the Sudanese people and their call for freedom, peace, and justice.
