Mrs. SYKES. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the Akron Black Artist Guild as the Champion of the Week for Ohio's 13th Congressional District.

The Guild is a dynamic community of talented and passionate Black artists who have come together with a singular mission: to strengthen the creative community in Northeast Ohio.

The organization works to expand fair access to funding, professional growth, and public opportunities for artists. Through its programs, the Guild brings people together, connects generations, and uses all to promote learning, economic opportunity, civic engagement, and community well-being.

Now in its fifth year, the Akron Black Artist Guild continues to build leadership and encourage civic participation throughout Northeast Ohio's arts and cultural landscape. The Guild also provides a safe and welcoming space for artists while working to overcome barriers created by racial and economic inequality.

Ohio's 13th Congressional District is known as the ``Birthplace of Champions.'' The Akron Black Artist Guild has upheld this legacy through the work they have put in to strengthen our region. This organization has certainly made our community proud and I thank them again for their tireless efforts.
