Mr. BILIRAKIS. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize an outstanding community leader, mentor, and advocate, Mr. Howie Taylor, whose dedication to strengthening families and empowering youth makes him an exceptional candidate for the 2026 Bilirakis Heroes Among Us Congressional Award. A longtime volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Howie has devoted years to transforming the lives of young people through consistent mentorship, heartfelt connection, and unwavering advocacy. His mentoring journey began with his first Little, Hunter--a relationship so impactful that Howie was named Big Brother of the Year during their match. Today, he continues that legacy of service with his second Little, Elijah, carrying forward the same commitment to guidance, endouragement, and accountability. In both mentoring relationships, Howie has intentionally emphasized the values of gratitude, responsibility, and service. One of his most meaningful teaching tools is shared volunteerism. By taking his Littles alongside him to serve the community, he instills the importance of giving back and appreciating opportunities. Through these experiences, he helps shape young men into respectful, productive, and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.

Beyond his one-on-one mentorship, Howie serves as Chair of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Community Leadership Council in Pasco County. In this role, he plays a pivotal part in building partnerships, raising awareness, and expanding opportunities for youth who are waiting to be matched with mentors. His leadership ensures that more children have access to positive and consistent role models during some of the most formative years of their lives. Howie's impact is amplified by his vibrant personality and diverse interests. A passionate volunteer and avid car enthusiast, he has even entertained fans as a pirate aboard the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ship. In every setting, whether professional, civic, or recreational, Howie uses his platform to elevate the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay and inspire others to get involved.

He is also a tireless advocate for the Florida Big Brothers Big Sisters specialty license plate initiative, actively raising financial support and encouraging adults to step forward as mentors. His advocacy is fueled by a sincere belief that every child deserves guidance, stability, and hope. Professionally, Howie extends this same spirit of service through his work with Coast Dental, leveraging his role to support young people and families in need and creating pathways of care that extend far beyond his office walls.

Through mentorship, leadership, advocacy, and professional service, Howie Taylor exemplifies what it means to be a hero among us. His unwavering commitment to empowering youth and strengthening his community makes him not only a remarkable volunteer, but a true role model worthy of recognition. For his extraordinary dedication and lasting impact, I am proud to honor Howie Taylor today as a 2026 Hero Among Us for Florida's 12th Congressional District.
