"I commend President Biden, Vice President Harris, and their Administration for the Executive Order announced today to capture the promise of artificial intelligence and effectively manage its risks.
The Executive Order is further evidence that the United States is poised to lead the world not just in the development of cutting-edge AI technologies, but also in the development of sound and balanced policies to responsibly govern their use.
I'm glad to see that the Executive Order includes many of the principles and priorities I shared with the White House earlier this year, including the need for provisions to bolster AI research and development, promote innovation, combat AI-enabled discrimination, advance equity and civil rights, and otherwise maximize the benefits of AI for all people -- not just the most fortunate.
As the Senate continues its critical work under Leader Schumer to develop policies to invest in AI and establish needed guardrails, I'm grateful to the Administration for its efforts to date, and I look forward to our continued collaboration to a create a fair, safe, and secure AI future."
