"USDOT's new announcement is a key step forward to improving safety and holding rail companies accountable, but we still have more work to do. Congress must pass reforms to change the way the rail industry does business and exercise its oversight duties to make sure what happened in East Palestine, Ohio never happens again," said Chairman Schatz.
