Rep. Zeldin Statement on Latest Antisemitic Attack in Brooklyn

Statement

Date: July 14, 2022
Location: Washington, D.C.
Issues: Religion

Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), co-chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus and one of two Jewish Republicans in Congress, just issued the following statement in response to yesterday's violent, antisemitic attack on Yossy Hershkop in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Crown Heights:

"This attack against Yossy Hershkop, a leader in the Crown Heights community, is the latest in a string of antisemitic violence in Brooklyn, as well as a larger trend of anti-Jewish hate in the United States and around the world. Even more sickening is that Yossy's five-year-old son was forced to watch his father beaten by these criminals. Antisemitism in all forms must be unequivocally identified, called out and crushed. Too many in positions of power are looking the other way regarding this violence, hate and lawlessness rather than having the courage to step up and turn our streets back over to law-abiding citizens. We must all stand with Yossy and his family."
