Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has joined over 50 House members to submit an amicus brief in support of the Title 42 injunction lawsuit filed by the Louisiana, Arizona, and Missouri Attorneys General.

The brief was led by Reps. Jodey Arrington (R-TX) and Mike Johnson (R-LA).

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"There is no doubt that ending of Title 42 will cause immeasurable harm by inflaming the crisis on the southern border. The brave men and women of Border Patrol deserve an administration that has their back. Right now, they do not have that, and the Biden administration's decision on Title 42 is further evidence of it. I'm proud to support this amicus brief and thank Reps. Jodey Arrington and Mike Johnson for leading this critical action."

Background:

The brief underscores that the Biden Administration does not have an actual plan in place to prevent the surge in illegal immigration.

DHS Office of Intelligence anticipates that one million migrants could cross the southern border within the first six weeks of Title 42 ending.

An anticipated surge of 18,000 migrants per day.

This past year, we saw a record 100,000 drug overdoses.

In FY 2021, CBP seized over 10,000 pounds of fentanyl -- fentanyl crossing the border accounts for approximately two out of every three fentanyl-related deaths.

CBP could reach full capacity within a few days of Title 42 ending and be forced to release illegal immigrants into the U.S.

We're already seeing the release of illegal immigrants into U.S. communities across the country--this will be exacerbated when Title 42 ends.
