Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has sponsored H.R. 6564, the Keep Schools Open Act.
The legislation would prevent federal education funds from being provided to an educational agency or institution unless the educational agency or institution provides in-person instruction to students.
The bill was originally introduced by Rep. Mark Green (R-TN).
Rep. Budd said in a statement:
"It has become stunningly clear that keeping children out of school is damaging to their growth and development. The harm of virtual learning far outweighs the risk of COVID at this point. Parents have the right to demand that their kids physically attend the schools that are funded by their tax dollars. Big thanks to Rep. Green for introducing this important bill."
