Issue Position

Around here, most of us treat others the way we'd like to be treated. I believe that goes for everyone, no matter what you look like or where you grew up. That's why voters of every county and partisan persuasion have called for democracy reforms that make it possible for every eligible voter to cast their ballot. But Republican-controlled legislatures in Ohio, Georgia, Florida, and across the country are attacking our freedom to vote. I'm proud to have stood up and spoken out against these anti-voter bills in our state capital. However, in order to truly secure our democratic process, we need action from Congress to set minimum standards for safe and accessible elections.

Right now, Ohio's outdated voter registration system blocks millions of us from having our voices heard on election day. Lobbyists and powerful interests prop up the outdated system to divide us and exclude us from casting a ballot. We need to minimize the influence big donors and super PACs wield over elections by imposing stricter ethics rules, requiring disclosure of a decade's worth of presidential tax returns, cracking down on the corrupting influence of dark money in campaigns, and restoring voting rights protections to ensure equal access to the ballot for all eligible voters.
