Issues: Education

Rhode Island's future is dependent upon a well funded, quality public education system. As your elected representative, I will work to accomplish the following:

Create a more predictable state education funding formula, allowing municipalities to more accurately predict annual budgeting

Work to create broader access to Head Start, preschool and before/after child care programs

Work to enhance public school infrastructure by supporting state programs that provide funding for repairs, construction, and renovation.

Support advancing school technology programs

Support legislation that would encourage districts to provide career and technical education

Support expanding programming to include financial education at the middle and high school level

Support our teachers by introducing legislation that would eliminate incentives for administration to prolong arbitration by simply not showing up or rescheduling indefinitely

Introduce legislation that would require retirement plan providers to provide the same fee disclosures to public sector workers that they provide to private sector workers (ERISA 404(a)5 fee disclosures)
