Issue Position: Livable Wage For All

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2020

Our current situation in society has shown how important many jobs and careers are, despite them often being overlooked by many. It includes jobs like those who make our coffee in the morning at fast food chains, those who prepare our deli meats and check us out at the grocery store, and those who greet us with a smile when we pay for our gas and get snacks at the local gas stations. These and many more are professions that have been deemed essential during the pandemic and despite this they make a whopping $10.50 an hour. Its about time we change this to make sure all people in Rhode Island make at least a livable wage of $15 an hour. As a State Rep I will work with those in the House of Reps who have been leaders on working to get this passed for years and with those who get elected in 2020 who know that this is at a minimum the right thing to do!
