Paychecks Over Promises.
We need real jobs that our neighbors can get today, not just short-term tax cuts to big companies that don't result in local hiring. I support investing in rapidly growing industries, like software development and green energy. More specifically, we can better utilize our local assets in healthcare and research to become a leader in healthcare IT, which we saw grow during the COVID-19 pandemic. I would also like for us to think beyond regional investment and actively seek new partnerships with west coast employers, NYC venture investors, and global start-up hubs like Israel. At the same time, we must also re-imagine public education to better integrate career training in middle school, including traditional building trades but also high-tech industries like software, optics and gaming. This will allow us to expand our workforce talent and make Rochester more competitive for prospective employers for the next generation. Let's be creative but aggressive. We're tired of waiting.
