Issue Position: Caring for Our Community

Issue Position

More affordable childcare and early childhood development
We will work to reduce the cost of childcare and early childhood educational opportunities to ease financial barriers to success for our families while prioritizing the wellbeing and growth of every child at every stage of life.

Supporting our seniors
As our community-members reach retirement age, it is important to focus on developing affordable senior care options that are safe and cost-effective for Minnesota seniors. We will work to ensure that care staff are fairly compensated, senior care facilities are safe, and that every senior is able to enjoy stability in their hard-earned retirement years.

Caring for our first responders and service personnel
Our first responders, police officers, firefighters, and active/retired members of our armed forces have dedicated their lives to serving and supporting us. I believe that we must work to make sure they are supported when they are experiencing job-related trauma and have access to mental health services without fear of being penalized. I am committed to working to support our service professionals through fully funding equipment/departmental resources, eliminating the use of toxic chemicals that threaten firefighter health, and equipping our first responders with the training they need to de-escalate situations where people are experiencing mental health crises.

A Minnesota where everyone is treated with dignity
Supporting individuals living with disabilities and their families in our community is one of my top concerns. Together, we will work to eliminate TEFRA fees, and make personal care assistant services more affordable and accessible while continuing to focus on our loved one's safety. Minnesotans with disabilities deserve access to the same opportunities as Minnesotans who do not have disabilities, which is why I believe in making investments in transitional programs that empower Minnesotans with disabilities to succeed.
