The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a spotlight on what has long been true about broadband: it is absolutely necessary infrastructure for the 21st century. That's why I chaired the first ever hearing on rural broadband last September. I passed a bill to study a broadband for all approach in New York, wrote legislation to make it easier for municipalities to create public broadband networks, and have worked with my colleagues to pass numerous legislation to improve broadband quality and accessibility while bringing down costs. I will continue to work to do all that we can to ensure everyone has the internet access necessary to run their business, do their schoolwork, and successfully work from home.
