Every Missouri child should have access to free, quality public education regardless of their zip code, gender, race, or class. We need to prioritize strengthening our public schools and fully fund our commitment to our kids. The majority of Missouri's K-12 education funding comes from local sources. Compared to other states, the share of funding provided by local sources is the 4th highest in the nation while the share provided by the state is the 49th lowest. It is clear that our state needs to do more to educate and support our children.
In addition, Missouri would benefit from universal early childhood education. Investing in our kids from an early age is the best way for us to invest in the future of our community. Education, beginning at an early age, should be something every child can access - regardless of what home they are born into.
