Issues: Education
I currently serve as a member of the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee. On this committee, I focused on ensuring educators and school districts have the resources they need to provide a quality education for all Maine students. The work from our committee influenced some key measures in the bipartisan budget, including:
Increasing minimum teacher salary to $40,000 by 2023
Raising the state share of education funding to nearly 51%, which includes $115 million in new state support for local education
Funding initiatives to feed more hungry school children
