Statement

While Congress has a number of vital issues facing it before years end, this week Republicans choose instead to spend their time enacting more tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of middle class families.

The callous spending cuts passed last month combined with more tax breaks for the wealthy few reveals the real Republican agenda: protect the very wealthy at all costs, even at the expense of hard working families. Like the "Grinch Who Stole Christmas" I am afraid the Majority's hearts are two sizes too small this holiday season.

I believe America can do better than more tax breaks for the wealthy few, financed through spending cuts that harm those who need help most and saddling our children and grandchildren with even more debt. I will continue to fight Republican attempts to place more of our nation's financial burden on the backs of the poor, students, and those on Medicaid and for a tax system that works for middle class families rather then benefiting the wealthy few.
