Issue Position: Developing the Economy

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2020

Illinois can be a leader in the 21st century economy, and i will work to make sure that happens.
Right now, some of the highest paying jobs in our country did not exist fifteen years ago. Illinois has not shared in that prosperity as much as it could have.

We have one of the most important financial and technological centers in the world in our state, and we have some of the best and brightest graduates coming out of world class universities. The goal now is to harness our state's incredible economic and intellectual wealth and put it to the use for the betterment of all illinoisans.

But economic development doesn't just mean investing in big cities and big universities; it means investing in every sector of our economy, from industry to agriculture.
As a union member, i know the value of job training programs and it was because of an apprenticeship program that i am able to provide a life for my family today.

If elected, I will work to ensure the state invests in job training programs and apprenticeships, many of which are sponsored by labor organizations. This will be key to revitalizing our state's manufacturing sector, and key to bringing new prosperity and wealth into our communities.
