Issue Position

Simply put, we need to apply lessons learned from the private sector to cut the fat and create value rather than volume within our healthcare system. We are stuck in a hybrid approach that is highly inefficient. I will work to replace the Affordable Care Act with a market-driven solution that gives more flexibility to the states and focuses on the following three pillars: (1) improve choices and lower costs, while protecting vulnerable Americans; (2) give flexibility and resources to states to achieve those goals; and (3) ensure people can opt into the private coverage of their choice.
