Rep. Estes Cosponsors the JUSTICE Act

Statement

Date: June 18, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) cosponsored the JUSTICE Act today in the U.S. House of Representatives, which addresses police reform and accountability. The House bill is companion legislation to the Senate JUSTICE Act that was introduced yesterday.

"The JUSTICE Act is the right approach to tackle the difficult challenges of police brutality, racial inequalities and law enforcement reform," said Rep. Estes.

"Now is not the time to play politics with this sensitive issue, but instead we should work in a bipartisan manner to provide solutions, accountability and safeguards. Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats have put forth a partisan bill on this issue that has no chance to move forward in the Senate or become law, but the JUSTICE Act makes common sense reforms that keep our communities safe, incentivize good policing and prevent bad officers from staying in law enforcement in our country."
