U.S. House Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement on President Trump's budget proposal:
"The budget put forward by President Trump would devastate our country for decades - putting at severe risk the health and well-being of seniors, students, families, and rural communities.
"It would decimate Medicare and Medicaid, while systematically cutting funding for food assistance and after-school care for children, eliminating debt relief for students, and slashing broadband access in rural communities.
"This budget makes clear that working families are not a priority for this president. It is the height of irresponsibility and cruelty."
