Issue Position

We must eliminate Common Core from the state of Mississippi while still encouraging higher standards that teach critical thinking and not just multiple choice. I have consistently voted to eliminate common core from our public education system. Bureaucrats in Washington DC should not mandate how we educate our children here in Mississippi. This past session we voted to increase Mississippi's K-12 education budget by nearly 300 million dollars. We must fund the education of our future generation! Also this session, we voted to increase funding of the teacher supply fund by 75%. This puts extra resources in the classrooms and keeps money in teacher's pockets. We must continue to reward teachers who are working hard to educate our children.
