Rep. Zeldin Statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day

Statement

Date: May 2, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council and co-chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus issued the following statement on Yom Hashoah, known in the United States as Holocaust Remembrance Day:

"On Yom Hashoah, we honor the 6 million innocent Jews and millions of others who were senselessly and tragically murdered during one of the darkest periods in human history. We also come together to honor the sacrifice of our greatest generation, the brave service members who liberated millions of survivors.

"Today serves as a stark reminder that we must never allow this to ever happen again, that we must never relent in the fight against anti-Semitism and that we must root it out wherever it may rear its ugly head. We will continue to share the stories of those we lost and those who survived so we may never forget what happens when this most extreme and destructive form of hate prevails and when too many people stay silent in the face of unconscionable evil. It is not only our duty as Americans, but for all around the world."
