Issue Position

"Our public schools remain the backbone of our communities in the Bristol & Norfolk district. The Commonwealth must do more to support our cities and towns by updating the funding formula to accurately reflect the rising costs of special education and healthcare. We owe it to our kids to provide a safe, comfortable, nurturing and well-rounded environment that incorporates civics education, music and the arts in their education. Additionally, though I support the mission of charter schools and have seen great success in many, we must not allow precious resources to be funneled away from traditional public schools. I am deeply disappointed that the legislature has failed to update the funding formula to more accurately reflect the true costs of public school, especially special education. I will continue to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass this vital legislation."
