Issue Position: Health Care

Issue Position

The past President's long-arm attempt to apply a quick fix to our healthcare system via the "Affordable Care Act" actually made healthcare less-affordable for many people across this nation. In Missouri, many were left with higher premiums, higher deductibles, or no insurance at all. I firmly believe that rather than obligate our nation partake in a socialized system of rationed care, we must focus our efforts at market-based solutions, which would likely decrease the cost of healthcare to all. Moreover, the encouragement of preventative health care and education on preventative health measures has been shown to shrink costs . Lastly, looking at expanding the roles of Nurse Practitioners within this state, similar to neighboring states excelling in providing affordable healthcare to the masses, would likely provide a wide net of affordable and accessible healthcare to all Missourians.
