I believe the first obligation to our residents is to make sure our community is free of violent crime. We need to make sure that our law enforcement professionals have our support and the tools they need to keep us safe. It is time for us to take our streets back from burglars, drug dealers and gang members.
One of the greatest impediments to a safe community is illegal drugs and opioid abuse. I believe we should have a zero tolerance for drug dealers or so-called doctors who operate "pill mills". It is time we put an end to these problems by enforcing the law.
The other problem we face is the crisis created by illegal immigration. I am opposed to making Maryland a sanctuary state or Baltimore a sanctuary county. We have laws that provide a legal path to residency and citizenship. These laws must be enforced and followed without exception.
Our schools must become drug free. I support providing our school systems with the necessary tools to keep drugs out of our schools and early education to remind children of the dangers of drug use.
