Issue Position: Economic Development

Date: Jan. 1, 2018

I've heard many times that young people in their 20s are actually Vermont's biggest export instead of maple syrup. We must do more to not only retain the younger generations in this state, but to also attract other younger people to move to this state and become established in their communities. Young people still want to buy homes and have families; it is nearly impossible to do that in cities like Boston or NYC on the median salary that most people in their 20s receive. Inviting diversity will help Vermont flourish, and will also create more participation in the mainstream economy.
