Gun violence is a public health crisis, and we must commit resources to finding solutions not only to prevent mass shootings, but to eliminate everyday shootings as well. Maryland has been a leader in gun control legislation, but we need to do more to close the loopholes that still exist and further limit access to guns. I am proud to have helped pass legislation banning guns in Howard County-owned buildings and helped implement a gun buy-back program that more than 600 guns out of our community.
