Education is about the future. Having, firsthand, seen debate in the legislature on K-12 education, it has become clear that some decision makers in West Virginia focus on how to modify what we have done for decades rather than looking forward to creating an educational system that can adapt to an ever-changing economy. We also need to have an educational plan in place to capitalize on an improved economy once it is realized, rather than being reactive with spending. Any spending needs to result in dramatic educational opportunity for our students- as well as attracting talent, developing infrastructure, and providing a flexible educational path.
