This is not only my campaign office, but the building that currently contains our business. Aside from farming, I own and operate an insurance agency for Farm Bureau out of Mobridge, SD. As a local business owner, I understand the important role that small business provides to our economy in District 23. Not only does it bring in revenue through taxation to our local communities, but small business is the back bone to our infrastructure. It's where we buy our food, our clothes, our gas, or even our supplies necessary to support our own businesses, whether that be office supplies or fencing supplies for the ranch.
In our state, and more specifically our district, tourism is our second largest industry. Whether it be our great pheasant hunting, our superb fishing, or even our extravagant local celebrations, tourism is a tremendous part of our economy. Our hotels, restaurants, bait shops, guiding services, and even our gas stations are a key aspect to a successful tourism industry in our area.
So, where do I feel that Government fits in here? I believe that it is the Government's job to support local business rather than regulate or tax people out of their lively hoods. It's the Government's job to use the money generated by the people to maintain infrastructure like roads and other public utility resources. To promote local economic development and to stay out of the way of hard working individuals that just want a piece of the American Dream!
