Issue Position: The Economy

Issue Position

After instituting RBA, the state needs to focus on attracting businesses and residents to our fine state. As a member of the Commerce Committee, I supported multiple pro-small business bills which became law, including Expedited Permitting for Businesses and a One-Stop Permitting Portal; the Small Business Hotline, designed to walk residents through starting a small business; and multiple pieces of workforce development legislation. Specific to our district, I voted to expand the Enterprise Zone in Wallingford to give more tools to the town to attract businesses to the empty Bristol Myers campus, and am currently negotiating an agreement with the state for Cheshire to obtain land on the north side of Cheshire for economic development.

I also created and produce the first-ever Student --> Manufacturing Fair at the Capitol, busing in students from all over the state to meet with Manufacturers for high-tech careers in manufacturing. Some of these companies are even paying for our kids to go to college, and guaranteeing them a job out of school.

I am proud to have supported many pro-business bills in the legislature. You can find information on those laws and programs I support by visiting my Small Business Handbook page, which has information to help Connecticut residents start and grow a business.

I will continue this work to make it easier to start and grow a business, while continuing to support workforce development.
