The condition of the Illinois budget is truly unfortunate and arose as a result of years of mismanagement. By making smart choices and growing our economy, we can do better. I will absolutely continue to work with other practically minded legislators to bring fiscal responsibility to our state budget. By establishing priorities and protecting programs that benefit our most vulnerable, we can serve the needs of the people and no longer leave a ballooning debt to future generations.
