Issue Position: Transparency and Accountability

Issue Position

The government's powers should be limited only to the powers specifically stated in the Constitution."

The larger the government, the smaller the individual. If we are to hold our elected officials accountable, we must have a government that answers to the people and not big businesses. As a conservative republican I believe that we must draw a line in the sand and say no more. No more political lip-service. No more budget and spending increases. No more accounting gimmicks and budget trickery.

We must say no to the legal plunder advocated by the special interest groups and pass legislation that not only limits the the growth of government but ensures a transparent, high quality and efficient government.

I also believe that Texans deserve to know what their tax dollars are being spent on. That's why I support a program-based budgeting system so that we can hold politicians accountable for their spending practices and to promote frugal governance.

Promote more transparency and accountability in state and local government
Stand up to Washington's attempts to violate our State's rights
Put government back in the hands of the people and out of the hands of the career politicians and special interest groups
