Ms. KELLY of Illinois. Mr. Speaker, I rise today because Americans continue to die from gun violence. Just this week, there was a shooting in a Kroger--not even our grocery stores are safe from the scourge of gun violence.

For more than a year, I've been coming to the House Floor and reading the names of gun violence victims that this House--the People's House-- has failed by our inability to act and save lives.

To date, I've read more than 2,300 names into the Record. Each one of them, was someone's mother, son, brother, wife, cousin or friend. Every one of them was an American failed by Congress.

Mr. Speaker, today, I want to recognize gun violence victims from five Congressional districts in North Carolina, Florida, Arizona and Kentucky and Michigan.

Therefore, I include in the Record the names of 222 Americans who've been shot--many of whom were killed.

Yet, still this House stands silent. Gun Violence Victims From North Carolina's 9th Congressional District
