Issue Position

Brenner believes that enough of this district's funds are redistributed throughout Ohio. Therefore, when there are opportunities to bring our own tax dollars back to the district, Brenner leads the way. In addition, when residents bring issues to his attention, he is happy to do all he can to support the district. While he currently represents the western two-thirds of Delaware County, he looks forward to being just as supportive of Knox and Franklin Counties.

Here are just a few of the highlights:

Brenner's legislation created the Domestic Relations Court in Delaware County, a court system that was much needed after the docket backlog within this growing county (HB 11, 131st GA).
Brenner successfully created the solution to save the Delaware Area Career Center (HB 124). After an error that left out some of the people who should have voted for the DACC levy, the school had already been building their new school when the problem was caught. If a replacement levy had been voted on, it could have failed leaving a half-completed project stranded and millions of tax dollars wasted. Instead, Brenner created a fix, and got the problem solved because that is what leaders do.
Brenner has been fighting for fair funding for growing school districts like those within his, funding students who actually exist instead of phantom students in shrinking districts. Read more about his fair funding efforts on the Education page.
Brenner protected residents from double taxation through his 9-1-1 fix (HB 277, 131st GA). The issue was brought to his attention by the Delaware County Prosector, Carol O'Brien, and the Delaware County Auditor, George Kaitsa, and so Brenner got to work immediately to resolve the issue.
Brenner added money into the capital budget to help fund the Veterans Plaza in Delaware. He was honored to attend their inaugural event to recognize and thank those who have served our nation.
Brenner added an amendment into the budget in 2015 to allow the voters to decide on whether a bed tax should be added to fund county fairs throughout the state of Ohio. Delaware County overwhelmingly voted to add this bed tax, which means that tourists (not residents) pay an additional tax to help the county fund one of our tourist attractions -- the Delaware County Fair and the Little Brown Jug. If you attended this past year, you may have already noticed some of the improvements, but there will be millions of dollars coming into the fairground now to save this important agricultural and tourism bedrock of our area.
Brenner added money into the capital budget for The Strand Theatre, a historical theatre in downtown Delaware. The money was used to improve the building and keep this historical structure's infrastructure safe for the public.
Brenner added money into the capital budget for The Arts Castle in Delaware so that they could make long-term capital improvements. This is a community non-profit offering performing and fine arts for area residents.
On a more personal note, Andrew is a member of the Sunbury-Galena Rotary Club where he has held leadership offices and spent many hours volunteering throughout the county.
