Issue Position

Politicians must be held accountable for their actions. That's why Assemblyman Chen enthusiastically supported AB 403, the Legislative Employee Whistleblower Protection Act.

This bill protects legislative employees (including volunteers, interns, fellows, and applicants) from interference with making protected disclosures and retaliation for making protected disclosures.

This bill imposes criminal and civil liability on members of the Legislature and legislative employees who interfere with or retaliate against a legislative employee's exercise of the right to make a protected disclosure.

AB 403 is one of the most far sweeping measures in the Legislature's history. It gives a "voice to the voiceless."
