Issue Position

I believe our Veterans, Active Duty Service Members, and their Spouses are incredibly talented and have skills and knowledge that transition well into our local economy. I'm humbled and proud to have led the expansion of support for veterans, active-duty personnel, and their families at Skagit Valley College, including the creation of the Veteran Student Center, the hiring of Vet Corp staffers, and formation of a student Vet Club.

I'll continue my work by collaborating with my colleagues to develop and introduce legislation that ensures transitioning Veterans and their families earn a living wage relative to the area they settle in -- including the 10th District.

I also want to extend a special thanks to the Spouses and Children of our Service Members who sacrifice so much in support of their loved one, especially our Gold Star families in Washington. I'll partner with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure Gold Star families are provided access to support services and educational opportunities that will guarantee a living wage as they rebuild their lives.
