Issue Position: Reforming Education by Returning to Local Control

Issue Position

As your Congressman, I will support repealing the "No Child Left Behind Act" and returning education control to school districts, teachers and parents. No faceless bureaucrat at the Department of Education in Washington cares more or knows more about educating your child than you do. I will support initiatives like "Dollars to the Classroom" that bypass the Department of Education and send federal education dollars straight to local schools. And though they are largely state and local issues, I will be a strong advocate for school choice, charter schools and home schooling. I strongly support the efforts of the Texas State Board of Education to bring real American history, values and culture into the curriculum.
