Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06), Chairman of the National Security Subcommittee and Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy reserve, issued the following statement on the sentencing of Bowe Bergdahl:

"Bowe Bergdahl deserted his unit and endangered the lives of his fellow soldiers. To receive a sentence of zero confinement will strike many Americans as an outrage and will lead many to question the efficacy of the military justice system. I'm disappointed in the sentence and do not think such a light sentence reflects the gravity of Bergdahl's conduct."
