Rep. Sewell Statement on Comey's Written Testimony

Statement

Date: June 7, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

On Wednesday, former FBI Director James Comey released written testimony detailing his interactions with President Trump regarding the FBI's ongoing Russia investigation. Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL), a Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, releases the following statement:

"The testimony released today by former FBI Director Comey adds another layer of confirmation to disturbing allegations that President Trump interfered in the FBI's work," said Rep. Sewell. "President Trump's demand that Comey pledge his loyalty and Trump's request that Comey drop the investigation into General Flynn should set off alarms for any American who cares about the integrity of our law enforcement and intelligence communities. It is now the job of Congress to determine whether Comey's refusal to comply with President Trump's demands led to his dismissal."
