Fischer Statement on Refugee Executive Order

Statement

Date: Jan. 30, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement on the president's executive order regarding refugees from specific countries:

"Our number-one responsibility is to protect our nation, and I agree that we need to strengthen and reform the vetting process. Over the weekend, we saw a lot of confusion and anxiety. The intention of this executive order is on-point, but the implementation of it must be orderly, careful, and clear. As we work to keep out dangerous individuals, we must also remain a welcoming country to people of all faiths."
