I don't believe that Mr. Trump is colluding with Mr. Putin in the recent hacks and release of emails about Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, the DNC and the DCCC -- in an effort to throw the election. That would be outright treason, and even Mr. Trump wouldn't go that far. However, it is clear that Mr. Trump has released information that was hacked by the Russian government, altered, and then turned over to Mr. Assange even before this same information was released by WikiLeaks. In other words, Trump's campaign has special access to hacked and altered information from the Russian government and is trying to use it to benefit his campaign. This is taking place within his campaign, and he thinks this is just fine. After all, he did suggest that the Russians should hack Ms. Clinton's emails and release them.
So if this doesn't make Mr. Trump a traitor, then what does it make him? If you read the title above, then you know what I think -- it makes him Vladimir Putin's patsy. You see, Mr. Putin sees the world as a zero-sum game: if the power of the U.S. is diminished, then Russia gains. Like many people, Mr. Putin sees Mr. Trump as a buffoon who will harm not only our national strength, but the strength and unity of NATO. And that's just what Mr. Putin wants. So Putin feeds Trump's campaign false information that has been based on actual emails but altered to cause maximum harm to Hillary's campaign and still be somewhat believable. And Mr. Trump dutifully takes the information and releases it -- proving to be a patsy in Putin's game.
