Maggie for NH Campaign Manager Marc Goldberg released the following statement on Governor Maggie Hassan's victory in this morning's Jack Heath radio debate on WGIR:
"This morning, Governor Maggie Hassan once again underscored why she is the only candidate for U.S. Senate that will stand up for New Hampshire. Maggie highlighted that as Governor, she's worked across party lines to get things done and make progress for hard-working families and small businesses. She signed two bipartisan, balanced budgets that held the line against an income or sales tax while investing in critical economic priorities. And she laid out her federal priorities to support innovative businesses, expand economic opportunity and keep America and New Hampshire safe. In the Senate, Maggie will fight to hold down the cost of college tuition, expand access to affordable health care, secure emergency funding to combat the heroin and opioid crisis, and work to fulfill our obligations to our veterans.
"Kelly Ayotte, on the other hand, failed to answer for her political calculations on Donald Trump, including the fact that she reiterated her support for his campaign at least 35 times throughout this campaign. Instead, Ayotte launched desperate, false attacks, clearly showing that she is worried about the fallout from her craven political maneuvering.
"Ayotte also had no answers for her real Washington record of putting her political party and corporate special interest backers first at the expense of New Hampshire's families and small businesses. Ayotte voted with the Koch Brothers nearly 90% of the time during her first four years in office, including voting five times to repeal New Hampshire's bipartisan Medicaid Expansion plan and has consistently voted to undermine a woman's right to make her own health care decisions.
"This morning's debate made it clearer than ever that Maggie Hassan is the only choice for hard-working Granite Staters who want to keep our state moving in the right direction."
