Today, Rep. Walz voted in support of H.R. 5620, the VA Accountability First and Appeals Modernization Act to enact additional measures of accountability within the Department of Veterans' Affairs and reform the appeals process to work better for American veterans.
"My number one goal as both a veteran and a Member of the VA Committee is to ensure our veterans get the support and care they have earned and deserve. This bill works with that goal in mind, giving greater ability to the VA Secretary to hold employees accountable when warranted," said Walz. "Make no mistake; we have many public servants in the VA doing good work, many of them veterans themselves. Giving VA leadership greater ability to hold bad actors accountable protects those employees and whistleblowers doing the right thing. While this bill is not the one I would have written, I believe it makes important progress, particularly in improving the appeals process for veterans."
