Every child in New Hampshire deserves to have their educational needs met by the public schools of our state. Their educational lives begin when they enter this world with their parents and caregivers as their first teachers. They are curious and exploratory. Our education system builds on this foundation. In a time when many families have working parents, we need to make sure that we are stepping in as a society during the day to prepare children for the world. Every community in the state needs to have adequate funding for full-day kindergarten if they see the need for this in their communities. It will enable parents to more easily get back into the workforce, and it will allow kindergartners to get the educational instruction they need to be prepared for elementary school.
Likewise at the opposite end of the spectrum, we need to continue the struggle to make college affordable. The state legislature will have to continue work with the governor, the federal government and the private sector to prepare our students for the modern economy without strapping them with excess debt.
